Before every Pittsburgh Pirates Sunday home game PNC Park host at Fun Zone for kids, with innflatables and entertainment. To help the Fun Zone kids experience the science and math around them explanatoids™ created a series of media.

WRISTBANDS
As each child entered the Fun Zone they were given wristbands for security reasons but also with simple science questions about the Fun Zone and baseball. Then wristbands also directed the kids to visit explanatoids.org for the answers.

Some examples of the questions include:

Question:
Why do different objects make different sounds when they are hit?

Answer:
Objects vibrate at different frequencies and move the air to make sounds: a fast vibration makes a high sound and a slow vibration makes a low sound.

BASEBALL CARDS AND SIGNAGE
Fun character based baseball cards with inspirational science and math themes were distributed as prizes to the kids. Signage illustrating the science behind the Fun Zone act ivies used the same characters.

KIDS CLUB NEWSLETTER
Finally, to provide continuity to the learning experience explanatoids™ created the Fun Zone Kids Club Newsletter that utilized many of the same questions and characters to engage children in ongoing scientific exploration.
